Research Projects
Dr. Sudesh Prabhakar has led and participated in numerous high-impact research initiatives, both nationally and internationally. His research focuses on neurological disorders, gene expression, neuropharmacology, stem cell therapy, and the neuroprotective effects of traditional medicines like Bacopa Monniera (Brahmi). Many of these studies have been supported by esteemed institutions including NIH (USA), ICMR, DBT, CSIR, and DST.
Stem Cell Therapy for Neurological Disorders
Led multiple groundbreaking studies on the use of autologous bone marrow-derived stem cells for treating motor neuron disease, stroke, and retinal injury.
Genetic Insights into Parkinson’s and ALS
Investigated the molecular and genetic markers such as Parkin gene mutations and VEGF-A/CCL2 expression, contributing to early diagnosis and targeted therapies in neurodegenerative diseases.

Brahmi in Neuroprotection
Conducted clinical and experimental studies proving the neuroprotective and memory-enhancing effects of traditional Ayurvedic medicine Bacopa Monniera.
Therapy for acute ischemic stroke
Principal Investigator in a landmark multi-institutional study on intravenous stem cell therapy for acute ischemic stroke, funded by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), India.
